The Grey-headed Flying-fox (Pteropus poliocephalus) is the most well known flying-fox to residents of Sydney and surrounds. A number of images of this species are shown here, many taken by Vivien Jones.

Part of the role of the KBCS is to rehabilitate and release young flying-foxes that have been orphaned as a result of human activities. This does not contribute to the long-term conservation of the flying-fox in Australia, however it is important ethically and also contributes to public education.
